- All the Memory Part 1
This series of photographs is part of an extensive project that is, in part, an homage to Alain Resnais’ short film All the Memory in the World, a poetic exploration of the French National Library. My response to the original employs both still and motion film to suggest how collections of books, both personal and public, establish the legacy of collective memory and demonstrate the discrepancy between national memory and personal memory, and the responsibility for their legacy. This work, like Ashes of Izalco, is about how memories are constructed (in the material world) through artifacts, architecture, and national mythology.
